Wedding videography timeline on the big day
The arrival of the videographer
Your big day is crucial to both of you and us, as experienced wedding videographers. We prefer to arrive to bridal preparations 2 hours before the wedding ceremony, to have enough time to document all of the important moments leading up to the ceremony, such as your hair and beauty preparations, your bridal gown and accessories, the opening of gifts and the reading of cards. We aim to arrive at the ceremony location 20minutes before the start of the ceremony to set up our camera and audio equipment.
But what does a videographer entail at your wedding?
The answer is preserving your wedding day for you to relive for years to come. Everything from the big ‘I do’ to the seemingly little details will be captured and preserved for all eternity. We integrate our passion and excitement to convey your wedding tale. We are your eyes and ears that day, your memory library.
How much wedding videography coverage will you receive?
Is there such a thing as too many wedding videos? We think not! We can always edit down, but it’s difficult to recover moments that have already passed. To get the most out of your wedding coverage, it’s important to strike a balance between what you want to be captured in the morning and what you want to be captured in the evening. That’s where our guide to wedding videography timelines might help.
As already indicated, the optimal time to arrive at the site is two hours before the ceremony. We plan to come at least 20 minutes earlier to set things for the ceremony. The arrival of your guests and the excited laughter and trembling knees of the groom might be captured this way! Aren’t you looking forward to it?
No matter what style of ceremony you will have, we’ll film it for anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes, depending on how long it takes us to capture everything. This allows us adequate time to capture numerous lovely moments which will add considerably to the final wedding movie! For example, if it is a non-religious one, it takes about 30-45 mins, and for civil and religious ceremonies.
Of course, no wedding videography timeline passes without capturing the bridal portraiture, the bridal party and family! Couples should have a backup plan for where they want to spend this time. If the weather doesn’t cooperate for outside filming, plan B should come into play. Additionally, let your loved ones know when and where the family videos will be filmed so they can plan accordingly. We normally get this done in 30-60 minutes, and believe us, the effects are just stunning!
And did we mention how much fun it is for us to film? Beautiful sunset portraits, your fun drinks ceremony and some candid images from your guests, the long-awaited arrival into the reception room, the speeches, the very first dance of you and your partner, the tasty cake cut, all the sparkles and confetti and everything else in-between!
You may question what is full wedding coverage? We arrive two hours before the ceremony and complete the filming at 10 pm, or after the first dance, whichever comes first.
We really hope you find our wedding videography timeline guide useful in organising your big day! Keep an eye out for future posts, or get in touch with us directly using the form. We’d love to be a part of your special day!
